Overview
In 1951, East China Normal University established the Department of Physical Education on the basis of the Department of Physical Education and the Specialized Physical Education of East Asia Sports College (founded in 1918). In the summer of 1952, the Physical Education Department of East China Normal University, the Physical Education Department of Nanjing University and the Physical Education Department of Jinling College were merged into the East China Physical Education College. In 1972, East China Physical Education College was integrated into Shanghai Normal University. In 1979, the Department of Sport Science of East China Normal University was restored. In 1981, it was permitted to establish the first Master Degree of Physical Education Pedagogy in China. In 1986, the first Master Degree of Movement Biochemistry in China, and the Doctoral Degree of Movement Biochemistry in 1993. In 1998, the Department of Physical Education and the Department of General Sports of East China Normal University merged with the Physical Education Department of Shanghai Education Institute and the Physical Education Department of Shanghai Second Education Institute. In April 2001, East China Normal University approved the establishment of the College of Physical Education and Health. In 2003, the first national Postdoctoral Mobile Station in Sport Science were established in China, and in 2005, they obtained the right to grant Doctoral Degree of Sports Science (A First-Class Discipline), and in 2007, they were approved as a National Key Discipline by Ministry of Education. Since 2010, it has been approved as the Key Laboratory of Adolescent Health Assessment and Exercise Intervention, Ministry of Education of China,Shanghai "Fostering Virtue through Education" Physical Education Teaching and Research Base, Shanghai Social Science Innovation Research Base for Youth Physical Education Research, they are provincial and ministerial key research bases. Presided over the Chinese Association of Physical Education, the National Teacher Training Base of "Campus Football" of the Ministry of Education, the National Aerobics Training Base and the Cheerleading Research Base, and the Shanghai School Physical Education Leading Teacher Training Base won the "National Advanced Unit of Mass Sports" from 2013 to 2016 and 2017 to 2020. Physical education ranked the Third in the Third Round of Discipline Evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2012, and ranked national Class-A in the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2017. In the past ten years, the comprehensive strength of sports discipline has remained the top three in the country and the first in comprehensive universities.
The College of Physical Education and Health of East China Normal University has Department of Physical Education Teacher Education, Department of Sport, Department of Coaching Education, and Department of General Sports Teaching.There are three undergraduate majors and master's degree and doctoral points of the first -level disciplines of sports. The College has 575 undergraduates, 278 full-time postgraduates and 90 doctoral students. In the past 70 years, a large number of high -quality talents have been trained for the country, and they have devoted themselves to sports education, scientific research, management, training, competitions and other industries.
The College is staffed by about 93 faculty members, there are 22 professors, 31 associate professors and 39 have a doctorate degree. Among them, there are 2 Distinguished Changjiang Scholars, 1 Distinguished Young Changjiang Scholars，1 National Outstanding Professor of National Ten Thousand Talents Project launched by the Central Government, 1 Outstanding Cultural Expert of Four Batches of Talents Project by the Central Government, 1 teaching teacher in the Ministry of Education, Essence Famous sports experts Zhen Huang, Bailing Huang, and Haowen Xu have taught at the college for a long time, laid the cornerstone for sports humanistic sociology, physical education training, and sports human science. Dean and Professor Liu Ji is a former member of the sixth and seventh discipline review group of State Council. The deputy chairman of the Education Primary and Middle School Physical Education Teaching Guidance Committee, the leader of Research and Revision Committee for National Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards of Primary and Secondary Schools, the Deputy Director of National Primary and Secondary School Physical Education Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Leader of Theoretic Team of National Institutions of Higher Education Physical Education Executive Committee, etc.
In the past 20 years, it has won more than 20 provincial and ministerial awards such as the first prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the first prize of National Science Research Excellent Achievement Award in Universities of the Ministry of Education, the first prize and second prize of National Science Research Excellent Achievement Award. The College has undertaken 3 major projects of National Social Science Fund, 2 key project of National Social Science Fund and so on, and more than 60 National projects such as the General Project of the National Study Social Science Fund, projects of National Natural Science Fund, projects of National Education Science Planning, projects of Humanities and Social Science Research of the Ministry of Education and so on.
The competitive level of aerobics gymnastics and cheerleading is the top in the world, many Olympic champions, world champions or national champions emerged in track and field events. International exchanges have been carried out for a long time, and have established stable cooperative relations with universities in universities in the United States, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, Czech Republic and other countries.
The college has always adhered to the motto of " excellence in arts and martial arts, outstanding expertise, high quality, and the pursuit of excellence ". On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the school and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the college, we arestriving to achieve new leaps and bounds in building our college into a world-class sports college in the grand blueprint of "healthy China" "Strong Power" and "Double First-Class" construction.
